Translation and Writing Funds

Now you can participate in the translation and writing projects of the Bhajan Kutir. How? By helping Nitai focus his attention on the projects you think deserve more priority. You can now do this by contributing to the various translation and writing funds for individual projects. As a contributor to a fund you will encourage Nitai to spend more time on the particular work you want to see completed and you will get regular pdf copies through the email of the work you are supporting as progress on work is made. In addition, when the work is done you will get your own signed copy of the printed work. If your contibution is large enough you will also be mentioned in the Acknowledgments of the work itself.

Nitai has dozens of projects in various stages of incompletion. He wanders back and forth between them, doing a little here and a little there. The project funds represented here are but a small number of those actually in existence. They only represent the texts posted on the site (or that will soon be posted). More funds will be added to this page as more translations and essays are posted in the Kutir.

Smarana-mangala Stotra:

The Smarana-mangala-stotra translation project is a translation of the 10 (or 11) verses by Krsnadas Kaviraja summarizing the eternal or rather daily sports of Radha and Krsna. The verses are joined with the long commentary of Radhakrsna Das Gosvamin (Dasa-sloki-bhasya). This commentary along with the original verses is an excellent introduction to the philosophy and practices of the early Caitanya tradition. That and the summary of the eternal sports of the Radha and Krsna make it an excellent introduction to Caitanya Vaisnavism as a whole.

Works of Kanupriya Goswami:

This project is aimed at translating and publishing all of the major and minor works of Sri Kanupriya Goswami. There are already a few poorly done translations of his work available. This project aims at creating carefully executed and well edited translations of his major works (and redoing the atrocities already in existence). The first of these translations will be a short work of his called Mahat-sanga-prasanga (On Association with the Great Ones). The first chapter of that will be posted on this site shortly. In that volume will be included other stray essays by and about him. It will be a fine introduction to the man and his work. After that work is complete, translation of his magnum opus, Nama Cintamani (volume 1) will begin. Then gradually the rest of his works: Bhakti Rahasya Kanika (A Particle of the Secrets of Bhakti), Ragabhakti Rahasya Dipika (Lamplight on the Secrets of Passionate Bhakti), and so forth.

Sanatana Goswami's Sri Krsna-lila-stava:

This is probably Sanatana Gosvamin's first book after joining with Sri Caitanya and settling in Vrndavana. It represents a clever joining of nama-kirtana (repetition of Krsna's names) and smarana (recollecting the activities of Krsna) and was probably the text around which his own practices revolved when he first settled in Vrndavana. In this way it represents a complete set of practices in itself and gives the first hints of the philosophy of Sanatana as it later developed and was presented in his Brhad-bhagavatamrta. One also might thingk of it as the first flowering of the philosophy of the Six Gosvamins. The translation is complete. Only needed are some editing and polishing, some more notes, the completion of its long introduction, and the addition of some appendices. A portion of it will be posted shortly in the Kutir.
